Record Your Screen With Audio and Draw on It Live (Free Snipping Tool Alternative)

By · · 4 min read

ASNIPP is a Dynamic-Island style floating bar for screenshots and screen recording on Windows. It runs from the system tray and is portable — no installer.

Record with sound

  1. Run ASNIPP.exe; the floating bar appears at the top of your screen.
  2. Turn on system audio and/or your microphone, then click Video (or press Win+Shift+R).
  3. Drag to select the area; a 3-second countdown starts.
  4. Press Stop (or Win+Shift+R again), then click the preview to trim, edit and export.

Draw on screen while recording

Click the pen button or press Ctrl+Alt+D to draw with a pen, highlighter, arrows, shapes or a laser pointer. Your drawing is recorded into the video.

Screenshots, OCR and pin-to-screen

  • Capture an area or the whole screen; each capture is saved and copied to the clipboard.
  • Use OCR to pull text out of a screenshot in one click.
  • Use Pin to Screen to float a screenshot above your windows as a reference.
  • Export from the built-in editor to MP4, AVI, WMV, MOV or GIF.

Replacing Windows shortcuts

On first launch ASNIPP takes over Win+Shift+S, Win+Shift+R and PrintScreen. To give them back, right-click the tray icon and untick “Use Win+Shift+S for ASNIPP”. It is a new, unsigned app, so SmartScreen may warn you — choose More info → Run anyway.
