How to Keep an Offline Encrypted Password Vault on Windows (No Cloud, No Account)

By · · 3 min read

Most password managers ask you to trust a cloud account. An offline password vault removes that risk: there is no server to breach because your data never leaves your computer. The ATLOCK Password Vault works this way.

How the vault protects you

The vault is AES-encrypted with a key derived from your master password, and it is stored locally on your device. There is no cloud sync, no account and no telemetry.

Set it up

  1. Download and extract ATLOCK; run ATLOCK.exe.
  2. Open the Password Vault panel and set a strong master password.
  3. Add your credentials as usual — everything is stored locally.
  4. Back up your own data on your own media if you want a copy; nothing is synced for you.

Important: the master password cannot be recovered

Because nothing is stored online, forgetting the master password means the vault stays closed. That is the trade-off for true offline privacy, so choose something memorable and store a hint somewhere safe.

Pair it with File Guard

For extra protection, use File Guard on documents you keep alongside your vault, and System Lockdown when you step away.
